Our Philosophy

Acne care begins with
the right assessment.

Acne has several forms and contributing factors, so not every breakout needs the same treatment. A good plan considers what is active now, what may be triggering irritation, and whether prescription treatment or specialist referral is needed.

01

Skin Review

Assess lesion type, severity, sensitivity, marks and scarring risk.

02

Health Context

Review medication, hormones, previous care and relevant symptoms.

03

Staged Plan

Prioritise active acne before addressing residual marks or texture.

Start With What You See

Different concerns need
different decisions.

01

Clogged Pores

Blackheads and whiteheads may benefit from a review of skincare, comedogenic products and selected professional care.

02

Inflamed Breakouts

Papules and pustules may need topical or prescription treatment as well as supportive in-clinic options.

03

Nodules or Cysts

Deep, painful or rapidly scarring acne should receive timely medical assessment and may require specialist care.

04

Marks or Scars

Flat red or brown marks differ from indented or raised scars, and the treatment approach is not the same.

Your Treatment Journey

A calm, practical
four-step process.

01

Assess

Review acne type, severity, current routine, previous treatment and scarring risk.

02

Stabilise

Prioritise active inflammation and build a tolerable home-care foundation.

03

Treat

Select only the in-clinic or prescription options appropriate to the assessment.

04

Reassess

Review response, adjust the plan and address marks or scars when timing is appropriate.

Possible In-Clinic Options

Selected for your skin,
not used by default.

The consultation determines which options, if any, belong in your plan. Procedures are not a substitute for necessary medical or prescription treatment.

After Active Acne

Marks and scars need
different plans.

Flat red or brown marks can gradually fade, while true acne scars involve a change in skin texture. IPL, laser or other skin-repair options may be considered after active acne is better controlled, depending on skin tone, scar type and medical suitability.

No procedure can promise to remove every scar. Several approaches or sessions may be discussed, and temporary redness, swelling or pigment change can occur.

Realistic Expectations

Improvement is gradual
and individual.

Acne can be persistent or recurring. Response depends on acne type, hormones, medication, adherence, skin tolerance and other factors. Your plan and follow-up interval should be adjusted according to response rather than a fixed number of sessions.

Between Visits

A simple, consistent
home routine.

01

Cleanse Gently

Use a mild cleanser and avoid scrubbing, abrasive tools or frequent product changes.

02

Protect the Barrier

Choose non-comedogenic moisturiser and sunscreen suited to your skin and treatment plan.

03

Do Not Pick

Squeezing inflamed acne can worsen inflammation, infection risk, marks and scarring.

04

Introduce Actives Slowly

Use salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, retinoids or other actives only as advised and tolerated.

Frequently Asked

Acne treatment
questions.

What types of acne can be assessed?
The consultation can review clogged pores, inflammatory acne, deeper nodules or cysts, post-inflammatory marks and scarring. Severe, rapidly worsening or complex acne may require dermatologist or specialist care.
How many acne treatment sessions will I need?
There is no universal number. Frequency depends on acne type, severity, selected treatment, response and home care. Prescription treatment may be more important than repeated procedures for some people.
Can acne be cured permanently?
No treatment can guarantee that acne will never return. Acne often improves with consistent care but may recur because of hormones, medication, products, stress or other individual factors.
What is the difference between acne marks and scars?
Marks are flat areas of redness or pigmentation after inflammation. True scars change the skin’s texture and may be indented or raised. Each needs a different assessment and treatment approach.
Is professional acne extraction safe?
Selected comedones may be professionally extracted, but extraction is not appropriate for every lesion. Picking or squeezing inflamed acne can increase irritation, infection, pigment change and scarring.
Can active acne and scars be treated at the same time?
Active inflammation is usually prioritised. Some supportive treatments may overlap, but scar-focused procedures are often considered after breakouts are better controlled and the skin has been assessed.
